PATNA: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three juveniles under Maniyari police station area in Muzaffarpur district when the survivor had gone to relieve herself in the field late Saturday evening.
The matter came to light after the victim’s mother found her lying unconscious in the field. After she regained conscious, the girl narrated the ordeal to her parents, who informed the police. On the statement of the girl’s mother, a police complaint was registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and 376 B (gang rape) of the IPC
DSP (West) Abhishek Anand said three juveniles had been arrested on the statement of the victim’s mother. “The accused were sent to an observation home,” he said. The victim’s mother told the police that the girl’s grandmother and aunt went to the nearby field for nature’s call around 8.10pm.
After 10 minutes, her daughter also left the house. “The two women returned but the girl did not turn up till late night. When we were searching, one of the villagers informed us that she was lying near the village school,” she said. After that they immediately brought her home. On regaining consciousness, she narrated her ordeal. SHO Ajay Paswan said “The sexually exploited her in turns till she fainted. Two accused are distant relatives of the girl,” he said.
