The All-India Senior Selection Committee has picked India’s squad for the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 to be played from 27th August to 11th September 2022. The 15th edition of the tournament will be played in the UAE between six teams (main event). Defending champions India are also the most successful team, having won the trophy seven times. While the last edition of the tournament was held in an ODI format, this edition will feature the T20 format.
The 15-member Indian cricket team has been announced for the Asia Cup. Rohit Sharma as the captain and KL Rahul as the vice-captain has been given the command. Virat Kohli, who took rest on the West Indies tour, has returned to Team India. KL Rahul, who has been troubled by constant injury, will also return from the Asia Cup after regaining fitness. However, strike bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the Asia Cup due to injury.
India will clash with pakistan in the first match
Team India has got a chance to avenge the crushing defeat against Pakistan in the first match of the T20 World Cup. The Indian team will face Pakistan in the Asia Cup on August 28. This time the Asia Cup is being hosted by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC). Earlier there were discussions about getting it done in UAE due to the economic crisis.
“The six teams are divided into two groups with India, Pakistan and a qualifying team in Group A and Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan forming Group B. Each team plays the other once in the group stage with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 4 round. The top 2 teams from Super 4 will qualify for the final,” BCCI said in its official statement.

Rohit (C), Rahul, Virat, Surya, Hooda, Pant, Karthik, Hardik, Jadeja, Ashwin, Chahal, Bishnoi, Bhuvi, Arshdeep and Avesh.
