A new rule has been issued by the Department of Telecom. In this, the Department of Telecom has directed telecom companies Reliance Jio, Airtel and Vodafone-Idea to stop SMS services (incoming outgoing) for 24 hours during SIM exchange or upgrade. After the new seam is activated, the seam will be closed for 24 hours. According to reports, within 24 hours of SIM activation, it will verify whether a request for a new SIM or upgrade has been made or not.
Stealing personal information of customers has become very easy these days. Simultaneously, the fraudsters are given a new SIM, after which the old SIM is deactivated without the knowledge of the customer. Incidents of banking fraud happen due to getting OTP from the same new SIM. But now the new rule will put pressure on them.
Digital transactions have increased in the country. Along with this, the incidents of digital banking fraud are also increasing. It has been seen many times that big banking frauds are done through SIM swapping. In such a situation, the government has instructed all the telecom companies to install a new SIM within 24 hours to activate the SIM.
